As fans rejoice over Tom Holland and Zendaya's engagement, we look at all the telling clues that the Spiderman actor popped the all-important question years before this week's fanfare

Beloved A-List couple Tom Holland and Zendaya are reportedly engaged, but eagled-eyed fans think that wedding bells could have been on the cards for some time.

The Spiderman actors have been an item since 2021, amassing a loyal fan base who are obsessed with their every move. While buzzing with excitement, OG followers weren't surprised after clocking a huge solitaire diamond ring on Zendaya's left hand as the couple put on an affectionate display at the Golden Globe Awards this week, as it's not the first time rings have been on the couple's radar.

The couple have so far kept schtum on their engagement, but Tom, 28, reportedly popped the all-important question over the festive season, with the private proposal believed to have taken place at one of Zendaya's family homes.

But there have been signs for a while that the stars, who first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017, could have already taken their relationship to the next level, with some clues dating back years...

As gossip site Deuxmoi previously revealed, all the way back in 2022, Zendaya, 28, liked an Instagram post shared by her LA-based nail artist, which featured a ring uncannily similar to the one she's now proudly sporting. Not long after Zendaya liked the post, her smitten beau Tom reportedly followed the jewellery designer Jessica McCormack before unfollowing her again.

After the happy news finally broke this week, a tattoo artist also took to social media with a "proud girlfriend moment", claiming her boyfriend had crafted the floral arrangements for the celeb engagement. She wrote: "I've been keeping this a secret for far too long... proud girlfriend moment."

This comes as an source claims lovestruck Tom has been considering getting down on one knee for a while, having long realised that she was "the one". They told People: "He has been wanting to propose [to Zendaya] for a while now. He's always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special." They added: "Everyone close to them knew the engagement was happening."

According to TMZ, Tom proposed "in a very intimate setting in one of Zendaya's family homes in the United States", between Christmas and New Year, when it was just the two of them. Tom reportedly asked Zendaya's father, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, for his blessing before asking for her hand, and the proposal was said to be "romantic and not over the top".

A source claims Tom excitedly shared the news with his closest pals as the newly engaged couple celebrated the new year together. With a busy year ahead, they are said to be in no rush to get to the altar and haven't yet set a date for their special day. However, they are both believed to be absolutely delighted as they look ahead to the future together.

The source continued: "Tom's always had this sweet way of letting the world know that Zendaya is his. Now, it's official — she really is!"
