Chelsea O'Donnell, the 27-year-old daughter of comedian Rosie O'Donnell, has been arrested for the third time in just over two months. Chelsea was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and several other charges following a traffic stop in Niagara, Wisconsin, on November 18.
According to police reports, Chelsea was a passenger in a car pulled over for having a loud exhaust. Officers noticed "pick marks" on her face, indicative of heavy drug use, and a K9 search of the vehicle led to her arrest.
A search revealed a meth-smoking device hidden in her bra, and during a strip search at the jail, authorities discovered a pill bottle concealed in her body containing meth, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, and Lamotrigine.
Chelsea reportedly admitted to using meth earlier that day and stated she planned to start an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) soon.
The court set bail at $7,500, prohibiting her from using drugs, drinking alcohol, or associating with known drug users.
A history of arrests and family struggles
This is the third time Chelsea has been arrested in recent weeks. Her troubles began in September when she was charged with meth possession, child neglect, and other offenses after officers discovered her 11-month-old son, Atlas, living in squalid conditions filled with drugs and garbage.
In October, she was arrested again during a traffic stop, and earlier this month, she was released on bond under strict conditions, which she has now violated. Rosie O'Donnell has spoken out about her daughter's battle with addiction.
"Sadly, this is not new for our family - Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade," the O'Donnell family said in a statement. "We are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease."
Chelsea's ongoing legal troubles have also affected her relationships with her four children. Her ex-partner, Jacob Bourassa, recently petitioned the court to prevent unsupervised visits after her first arrest. They reached an agreement allowing Chelsea supervised visits with their three children once a week, under the watch of Bourassa's mother.
Chelsea's youngest child, Atlas, remains with his father, Jacob Nelund, who was also implicated in the earlier September arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.
