Royal Mail has warned five postcodes of delivery delays today due to issues in some delivery offices.
There are around 1,400 of these offices in the UK, where letters and parcels are sorted and prepared for delivery.
A single office will serve several postcodes in any given area, and Royal Mail aims to make deliveries to all addresses it has mail for six days a week; however, this isn't always possible.
High sick absence levels, resourcing, or other local factors delay some letters and parcels. Today, Monday, February 24, four delivery offices in Scotland and England face disruption.
Additionally, two major mail centres reported that not all mail was processed and dispatched to schedule over the weekend.

Delays affect households sending letters and parcels, as well as those receiving them.
Royal Mail operates an air, rail, and road network to move letters and parcels between distribution hubs, mail processing centres, and delivery offices.

Two major disruptions in Wales may slow down the delivery process in certain postcodes after issues over the weekend.
Cardiff
Some mail that was posted on Friday in the CF, LD and NP postcode areas for delivery on Saturday in other parts of the UK may be delayed. This is due to the Cardiff Mail centre running behind schedule.
Swansea
Some mail posted on Friday in the SA postcode area for delivery on Saturday in other parts of the UK may not have arrived yet. The Swansea mail centre reported that not all mail was processed and was dispatched to schedule over the weekend.
