The humble air fryer can be found in households throughout the UK, effortlessly cooking up a storm without the expense of a conventional oven.

While they are handy appliances to have, there is the still the question of cleaning, as even a speedy cooker creates some mess.

Owners of an air fryer will be familiar with the dreaded basket that quickly piles on grease and grime, paired with hard to reach areas and fiddly bits.

If you don't keep on top of it, our beloved air fryer can become thick with grease and stubborn burnt-on food stains.

Luckily for us, the women behind the TikTok cleaning page @lovinglylina has shared an easy cleaning hack to get those air fryer baskets looking as good as new.

Using just two every day ingredients, Lina has found a quick and easy way to clean up the basket and tray, even when they are 'super greasy.'

With a dash of baking soda and a splash of washing up liquid the Tiktokker has shared her method that she describes as "the easiest way to clean your air fryer in two minutes."

How to clean an air fryer with 2 ingredients:

  • Start by pouring some baking soda and some dish soap into the basket of your airfryer.
  • Then boil some water and pour it all over until it's covering the tray
  • Put on your air fryer at 400 degrees for about two minutes
  • Take it out and give the basket and tray a good rinse.

Followers who tried the tip seemed impressed. One said: "Thank you! Tried it and it worked a treat! Saved so much time and effort!!"

Another who wished she had discovered the cleaning hack before, added: "I literally threw away my instapot fryer cause I COULD NOT get that gunk off! Thank you!!"

Some comments, however, were concerned that the method might leave a residue on the basket, while others simply suggested that air fryer liners might be an easier way to keep the basket clean in the first place.
