Reports that Russell Brand was facing speeding allegations first emerged in November. The star is separately under investigation by the Metropolitan Police over allegations of sex crimes

Russell Brand is said to have failed to respond to police letters relating to him having been allegedly caught speeding twice.

The 49-year-old comedian was reportedly caught speeding on a motorway and also allegedly broke a 30mph speed limit on a residential street. The driving offences first came to light in November and the star has now been charged with two allegations of speeding alongside two counts of failing to let police know whether it was him driving the car or someone else.

According to the Standard, the Crown Prosecution Service has now received a file on the complaints and will determine whether Brand will face charges.

Court papers obtained by the paper in November said a Mini registered to the actor was caught allegedly going 37mph in a 30mph zone near his Oxfordshire home.

His lawyer asked for no pleas to be entered against any of the charges, with the lawyer writing on October 10: "We would respectfully request that the Single Justice take no pleas at this stage and that the cases be listed for a mention hearing so that representations can be made to the police in relation to a swift resolution of the matter. Should the court not be satisfied with no pleas being entered then we would ask for preliminary not guilty pleas to be taken for ALL FOUR charges.

“We would ask that a trial date is not fixed and that the case is listed for either mention or case management hearing.”

In October, the Mirror exclusively revealed that Brand has made more than £1.2million from videos on Rumble.

His videos have been watched 160 million times since September 2023, with top Rumble earners making about £8 per 1,000 views. A source said: "Russell Brand is raking it in through posting these bizarre videos on Rumble. YouTube won't touch him. But he's made over a million pounds since the rape emerged. It's been a very lucrative source of income."

Brand's videos include debates with disgraced US radio host Alex Jones, who spread false statements about the Sandy Hook school mass shooting. Other wild claims Brand has made include one that President Joe Biden wants to have World War III with Russia.

Mirror Online has reached out to Brand for comment.
