Ruth Langsford, 64, seemed to take a cheeky swipe at the status of her divorce while speaking on Loose Women on Tuesday morning.
The This Morning alum and her ex Eamonn Holmes, 65, announced their shock split in May, and Eamonn has quickly moved on with new girlfriend Katie Alexander, 42. The couple shares a son, and after 14 years of marriage Ruth seemed to hint that their divorce wasn’t going completely smoothly.
The conversation started with the ITV panel debating whether they’d ever ditch their children over the child picking an unsuitable partner. “I just think it’s madness. You know for a fact no matter what position you take in your child's life if you intrench yourself too deeply they are going to do the opposite thing anyway,” Mariella Frostrup stated. “How on earth would the inclusion of someone in family life be worth the jeopardy of not talking to your child anymore, I just can’t imagine it.”

Ruth then turned the direction towards parents who let themselves down by feuding with each other instead of putting their children first. She shared: “I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents who say, you know, if they’re divorced, something like ‘Well I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming, or if she’s there.’ I just think it’s so selfish, isn’t it?”
“That’s a whole other subject, isn’t it? How to divorce well-” Mariella began. She was then interrupted by Ruth.
“Oh, tell me about it!” Ruth exclaimed, seemingly hinting that “divorcing well” was a topic she’d like to know more about. The panel and audience all fell into stitches, before Ruth conveniently brought in an ad break.
While Ruth has kept fairly silent about the ins and outs of her split from Eamonn, reports on how Eamonn's health woes impacted the couple's relationship came flooding in after the split was announced. Speaking about the star's ill health at the time, a friend of the couple is said to have told MailOnline: "Ruth has become more his carer than a wife. Eamonn has been thoroughly miserable."
They claimed Eamonn has become "more and more grumpy" and, in the end, it started to get Ruth "down more than she could accept". The publication also alleged that Eamonn joked to friends about being 'touched' more by his physio than Ruth in recent years, with Ruth allegedly upset by the comment.
In a similarly raunchy statement from Eamonn, after his hip replacement he blamed Ruth for his health woes and joked how his sex life was the 'cause' of the problem. He told the Mirror: "I'm facing a two-week double hip operation, she wore them out, she's got to help wear them in," adding, "The doctor says no hanky panky and no strong exercise."
