Kevin Dundon admits that his daughters, Emily and Sophie, leaving Ireland hasn't really hit him

Kevin Dundon has admitted that his two daughters, Emily and Sophie, moving to Berlin hasn't really hit him.

The Dancing With The Stars favourite's eldest daughter is working in the German city and his middle child is studying there this year.

He also revealed what it is like competing against Jack Woolley and Rhys McClenaghan on the dancefloor.

Kevin told RSVP Live: "Emily has moved there [Berlin] full time. She has finished college. She is living there with her boyfriend. Sophie is in the London School of Economics doing political science.

"Her first year was in Lisbon, her second year was in Paris and this year is in Berlin. It is a coincidence that the two of them are in Berlin, one studying and the other working.

"It hasn’t hit me too much because they were home for Christmas. Sophie was at the show last week and Emily had a Dancing With The Stars party in Berlin with her mates."

Kevin's three children, including his teenage son Tom, are delighted to see him on the dancefloor.

He said: "I have done so much on TV over the years. I asked my family if they would be okay if I did Dancing With The Stars because Tom is 17 and he said to go for it.

"I have never seen the family as excited for anything I have done before. It is the good feeling factor."

Kevin is a familiar face on RTÉ Today and he will continue to balance his TV work with rehearsing for Dancing With The Stars and life in Dunbrody House.

He said: "I am going to do as much as possible, probably two to three times a month. It seems to be working out at the moment and I don’t want to break that."

Kevin is competing against two male Olympians, Rhys McClenaghan and Jack Woolley, to win the glitterball trophy, but he is not fazed.

He said: "We all bring something to the show. The boys can bend over backwards and that is fine.

"They are able to do the splits and somersaults. If I did that, I might not get back up again.

"But I have years of experience on television, one or two moves and lots of smiles. I don’t have to get as low as them."

Kevin praised his pro partner Rebecca Scott.

He said: "She is amazing. She gives me the recipe at the start of the week and then I have to digest it and cook it up by Sunday.

"If I was a dancer and I was given a dance on Monday, I’d be able to dance it on Monday. But I am a chef so it takes me seven days to get it right.

"If I gave a recipe to Rebecca on a Monday it would take her seven days to get right. It is a challenge for both of us to deliver on Sunday.

"It is never going to be perfect, but I am really enjoying it and it is great exercise. The music we have been given is unbelievably good."

Who does he think will win the show? "Danny O’Carroll is putting in a huge effort and he is a really nice guy. Jack Woolley is an amazing dancer.

"Elaine Crowley showed us what she is made of last Sunday. Where did Rhys McClenaghan get those hips from? Fair play to him."

Dancing With The Stars airs Sunday nights at 6.30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player
