Ruth Langsford has shared a major update with fans concerning her mum’s health, after she was rushed to hospital three weeks ago with a broken pelvis. Joan, 94, suffered the painful injury after a fall, leaving Ruth worried sick and regularly updating fans with her progress on social media.
Yet in a huge health development for the Loose Women star’s mum, Ruth was able to reveal that she was finally discharged and able to return home. Sharing the good news with her followers on Instagram, Ruth shared a video which revealed her mum back home and spending quality time with her dog, Maggie.
Set to Everly Fair's cover of I Love You Always Forever, Ruth wrote: "SHE’S HOME!!! Mum is finally out of hospital! Thank you to all the nursing staff at St.Peter’s Hospital and Woking Community Hospital for taking such good care of her. As you can see, Maggie is VERY happy to have her home!"
The new development marks a huge milestone in Joan’s recovery, and comes just days after the pair had been discussing their hopes for her to be discharged to continue recuperating at home.
"Love is....sharing the last piece of Christmas cake!” Ruth previously told her followers. "Happy New Year from me and Mum...thank you for all your kind wishes. Hoping to have her home soon x x.”
News of Joan’s fall first emerged last month, when Ruth revealed that the mishap had happened during some pre-Christmas preparations. Sharing a clip of her elderly mum dancing in her kitchen while peeling some vegetables, , Ruth penned: "No dancing in my kitchen peeling the veg for my darling Mum this Christmas….She’s had a fall and fractured her pelvis! She’s ok…ish, no surgery required thank goodness but she needs rest and time to heal now.
"She’s in hospital at the moment but I’m hoping to get her home soon.”

ruthlangsford/Instagram)It marked the second time in two years that she had fallen and broken something at Christmas, having suffered a broken hip in 2023 too! The worrying ordeal is just one of several health battles Joan has faced in recent years, as she currently receives care at home due to dementia.
Ruth has previously opened up about Joan's health battle and remains incredibly close to her mum. She previously broke down in tears after not being able to visit during the peak of coronavirus lockdown rules, as regular visits are a highlight of the week for both mother and daughter.
Thankfully with the pandemic now safely behind us, Joan regularly features in Ruth's social media updates, particularly when they cook together at weekends.
