Ryan Tubridy continued one of this cherished Christmas traditions when he returned to Ireland last weekend.
The radio and TV star was back in Dublin and putting up the Christmas tree and watching a festive movie with his adult daughters, Ella and Julia, was top of his to do list.
The trip watched the The Muppets Christmas Carol at home once again as they got into a Christmassy mood, and his eldest daughter Ella had a lovely surprise for him.

Ryan said: "One of my favourite traditions at this time of year is to 'do' the tree and watch a Christmas movie with the girls (as my poor daughters will be forever known!)
"When I got in from London last weekend, my eldest handed me a Tower Records bag inside which was the vinyl soundtrack to one of our all-time favourites, The Muppet Christmas Carol, which stars the usual gang but also features a wonderful Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge."
Ryan and his girls watch the famous movie every December and, for them, it is the perfect way to kick off the Christmas season.
"It's a beautiful retelling of the Dickens classic," he wrote in his Irish Mail on Sunday column.
"I interviewed Caine a few years ago and when I asked him about it, he said that he made the film for his grandchildren to enjoy.
"He has also said that he played opposite the Muppets as though he was in the Royal Shakespeare Company, so there's no knowing winks to camera, and that's what makes it so respectful to the youngsters watching it.
"If you haven't seen it, please do watch. You're in for a treat."
