Sabrina Carpenter is not messing around this festive season. Stepping out for the first time since news of her recent return to singledom, the singer was working late and dressed to show the world she’s doing just fine.
On her way to a screening of her Netflix holiday special, A Nonsense Christmas, Carpenter, who has ended things with her boyfriend of a year, Barry Keoghan, eschewed traditional greens and reds in favour of a black and white vintage Chanel ensemble. Hailing from the brand’s Fall/Winter 1994 collection, her outfit comprised a fitted mini dress with a furry striped skirt. She was covered up in a coordinating bolero jacket, which was how the look was initially styled on the runway. Continuing the textural theme, she wore custom peep-toe mules to match the look.
The singer and her stylist, Jared Ellner, sourced the piece from Aralda Vintage, a celebrity go-to for one-of-a-kind pieces and archival looks.
As noted by the seller, fellow icon Naomi Campbell first modelled the look with a fuzzy cap and gloves to match. Though the runway iteration called for a smokey eye and nude lip combination, Carpenter opted for something more season-appropriate with a bold red lip, blushed complexion and cat-eye look.
Born in 1994 with Princess Diana’s iconic off-shoulder black Christina Stambolian dress, the Revenge Dress has become a rite of passage for celebrities fresh from a breakup. Typically slinky and skin-baring, the moment calls for an ensemble that both shows the world you’re doing just fine while also inspiring immense regret and utter dejection from your ex.
With rumours still abound regarding the details, Carpenter, 25, and Keoghan, 32, have called it quits after just a year of dating. First linked in December last year, the U.S. popstar and the Irish actor supposedly lost their spark thanks to geographical conflicts and busy schedules, according to People magazine. And though reports suggest the split was amicable, we can’t help but admire Carpenter’s festive take on the Revenge look.
