Tensions can run high in any workplace - and the world of entertainment is no exception. In fact, some of the most iconic on-screen stars have been embroiled in behind-the-scenes drama.
Most recently, in the wake of historic allegations against Gregg Wallace's conduct, a source claimed to The Sun that his MasterChef co-star John Torode had often flagged Wallace's remarks to executives on set - and made it clear that he was not happy with them. Wallace's lawyers say "it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature".
Although John was actually Gregg's best man for his wedding to Anne-Marie in 2016, the duo have in the past had an argument so bad that filming for the BBC cooking show had to be called off, while Torode has said they've "never really" been friends.
But these two aren’t the only ones who have had to film together through gritted teeth. Here’s a look at some famous partnerships that reportedly clashed off-camera...
Phillip Schofield & Holly Willoughby (This Morning)

Pixel8000)Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were once TV's golden duo, but cracks reportedly emerged in 2023. Phillip had failed to tell Holly that his brother Timothy had been jailed for child sex offences, and then their relationship further soured as the star confessed to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague - which Holly was allegedly blindsided by.
Viewers watched in real-time as their on-screen dynamic crumbled. Following Phillip's resignation, Holly addressed This Morning viewers saying that she felt "shaken, troubled, let down," and concerned for both Schofield and the younger colleague. The duo have not reconciled as friends.
Sarah Jessica Parker & Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City)
Despite playing best friends as Samantha Jones and Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall reportedly clashed for years on the set of the iconic naughties show. Kim later confirmed they were "colleagues, not friends," telling Piers Morgan’s Life Stories that the pair had a "toxic relationship". She also declined to return for the show’s reboot And Just Like That - devastating millions of millennial women across the globe.
James Corden & Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey)
Co-stars on the beloved sitcom Gavin & Stacey, James Corden and Mathew Horne’s partnership hit a rough patch after their 2009 projects flopped. Sketch show Horne & Corden was panned by critics, with The Guardian calling it “crude, crass, and unfunny,” while their film Lesbian Vampire Killers was widely regarded as a failure. Corden admitted to the Daily Mail that the film was “atrocious” before adding that “we hosted the Brits together, and we were so poor I can’t even watch it.”
Afterwards, they stopped working together. Corden went on to find success in the U.S. with The Late Late Show, while Horne stayed in the UK. Rumours of a fallout grew after Corden's appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories in 2011, where he said, "We talk occasionally, yeah," and later explained, "We never fell out, it was never that. We were one person for a long time... and then it just dropped."
Horne later clarified, "That’s where the rumour that we'd fallen out started and it snowballed from there... I didn’t go on [Life Stories] because I was filming out of London... The other reason is that I dislike Piers Morgan and everything he stands for.” However, thankfully the pair seem to have reconciled, with fans eagerly awaiting this year’s Gavin and Stacey Christmas special.
Alex Pettyfer & Channing Tatum (Magic Mike)

Alex had been renting a flat in New York which belonged to Channing's friend and, following the death of a family member, hadn’t paid rent for four months. Speaking on the Bret Easton Ellis on his podcast in 2015, Alex explained: “I all of a sudden got a very negative email from Channing, rightfully so, saying, ‘Don’t f**k my friends. You owe money. Pay the f**king money. Don’t be a clown. By the end of it, I just basically said, ‘Fuck them. What is money when life is so much more?’ and, ‘I’m not dealing with this, and I’m not paying.’”
He continued that during reshoots of scenes, the vibe between them disintegrated. “[Channing] had already told everyone he didn’t like me, and what Channing says goes because he’s a movie star.” Alex later admitted the reason Channing did not like him was “For many reasons. Many are my own fault.” However, despite taking responsibility, their strained relationship was likely the reason Alex did not star in the Magic Mike sequel.
Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams (The Notebook)

He told VH1 in 2014:“Ryan came to me, and there’s 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ And he’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?’ I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this." After a heated argument between the two, they were able to continue filming, eventually delivering one of the most memorable on-screen romances.
Piers Morgan & Alex Beresford (Good Morning Britain)
Piers Morgan and Alex Beresford’s on-air clash made headlines in 2021 when Alex challenged the host over his comments about Meghan Markle. The ITV weatherman said, "I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or had one, and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her." In response, Morgan stormed off set, declaring, "I’m done with this," before leaving the show entirely.
Piers told the BBC in 2023: "I don’t mind a guest doing that but I do object to someone who had asked to come on the show, who was on the team, who then makes a very personal attack on me." The journalist, who now has a show on talkTV, added: "Just for the record, I think he was a treacherous little [expletive]. So he can say what he likes about me. He absolutely has a right to his opinion. That is my opinion about him."
