When we first saw the trailer for Selling the City, we were immediately intrigued by Jade Chan She was kicking off her reality TV journey by threatening to sue the entire production. Who would have the audacity to try to file a lawsuit over the reality show that you signed up to do?
After watching Season 1 of the show, we had some thoughts about how all of the drama played out but more importantly, so did Jade. According to the real estate star, Netflix only showed a fraction of what happened in real life, but surprisingly, she’s no longer threatening litigation.
Jade Chan spilled the tea on that wild Selling the City finale
In a conversation with Us Weekly, Jade reflected on the debut season of Selling the City. In particular, she had to follow up on that big claim about trying to sue Netflix. That never works out well for anyone, and fortunately, Jade confirmed that she’s no longer planning on taking that route.
“No, I am not taking legal action,” Jade confirmed.
Looking back on the moment, Jade recalled feeling fed up with her issues with Abigail Godfrey. The drama was building up, so it was only a matter of time before they reached a breaking point.
“I hold everything in until it’s time to explode — and that’s exactly what happened,” Jade explained. “We were obviously filming the finale so we’re 12 weeks deep into it and there was a lot going on. It was a lot to unpack and I was seeing red.”
Now, Jade has done a complete 180 on the situation. Not only has she dropped her plans for a lawsuit, but she praised the producers for how the “beautiful way” they handled the drama. It’s a sentiment you don’t hear much from reality stars. Good for her.
Jade explained, “They were very respectful in knowing what was right and wrong in regards to [what to include]. Because there was much more to that scene than just the one minute that is shown. So I appreciate and respect them for that matter.”
She added. “That’s really where those comments from me were coming from. Because there were below-the-belt things said from both sides — from Abigail and myself — that I would never want to be shown across the entire world.”
Selling the City is streaming on Netflix.
