Serena Williams' husband Alexis Ohanian has opened up about a recent health scare, sharing had thyroid surgery for "suspicious nodules" doctors believed would soon "turn cancerous".
Ohanian, 41, shared a picture of himself from hospital, revealing his scarring, when he explained he had half of his thyroid removed so as not to "take any chances" with his health or a possible cancer diagnosis.
In his candid post, the entrepreneur and investor revealed his late mother suffered both breast cancer and brain cancer before her death.

"After tracking some suspicious nodules on my thyroid for the last 4 years, I recently got half of it surgically removed," he said in his post.
"The nodules were getting bigger & the latest biopsy revealed they'd very likely turn cancerous. My mom had breast cancer around this age (41) and then ultimately died from brain cancer a decade or so later. I hate cancer."
Ohanian said he was "feeling grateful" that he took action to have the surgery as he "got the call this morning that my now-removed-half-of-thyroid was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous".
The Reddit co-founder sweetly added that life is getting back on track for him and said it's important he took action about his health being a father.
