Shoppers in Singapore were left scratching their heads after spotting a man dressed as a Scotch-brite sponge and a woman toting a massive Post-it note.

The chap caused quite the stir as he was seen strutting about in a bright yellow dress adorned with scouring pads, complete with sunnies and rubber gloves.

Meanwhile, another lady raised eyebrows with her giant Post-it-note-shaped bag, which even had smaller reminder stickers stuck on it.

She was seen riding an escalator and browsing for fruit while holding the oversized accessory, which seemed to have her shopping list on normal-sized Post-it notes.

The quirky duo caught the attention of social media, with a video on Instagram that racked up over 162K views. Comments flew in, with one user joking, "Clearly for show and tell at school. I was waiting for aliens to pop out of the fruit."

Another quipped, "@monetxchange soak, soak it up," while a third admitted, "I gotta respect I kinda dig it."

The stunt is part of leading e-commerce platform Lazada's campaign that redefines fashion as essential. The brand is transforming everyday items into fashionable statements.

Executive creative director, Guilherme Machado, said: "This fashion-forward stunt is part of Lazada's campaign, which aims to turn everyday items into trendy must-haves."

Guilherme Machado, executive creative director, explained: "Lazada is one of the biggest platforms for daily essentials—but they offer so much more. From essentials to fashion, you can shop for anything at Lazada."

"To spread the word and really get people paying attention to it, we decided the best move was to make a fashion statement – just as how fashion brands would do it – because fashion is an essential, too," he added.

He continued: "By taking everyday items and carefully crafting them into couture, streetwear, and hype pieces that took to the Internet and the streets, we’re taking the perception of Lazada’s offerings and flipping it head on.

"We had so much fun working with the clients on this piece. Getting the positive responses from Singapore’s trendsetters and fashionistas, who took it online and onto the streets of Singapore, has also been so rewarding."
