Sister Wives star Kody Brown has come to a realization about his relationship with wife Robyn Brown after his marriages to Christine Brown, Meri Brown and Janelle Brown ended.
“When Christine left, she told her children — our children — and even some of Janelle’s children, ‘Dad has a soulmate. That’s Robyn. I want to be free to go find my soulmate,’” Kody, 55, explained in a clip from the reality series shared via TLC’s Instagram on Tuesday, December 10. “When she first told everybody that, that pissed me off.”
The Brown family patriarch continued, “But as time has gone on, [my exes] are gone. I’m out of my relationships with these other wives. I’m way more inclined to accept that.”
Christine, 52, was the first of Kody’s wives to separate from the TLC personality. The pair announced their split in November 2021 with statements on social media. “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” Christine wrote on Instagram. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family. With Love, Christine Brown.”
The mom of six later moved on with now-husband David Woolley.
In Touch exclusively revealed in December 2022 that Janelle, 55, had also split from Kody. “Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own,” an insider said at the time, noting that the reality star “outgrew” Kody.
Finally, Meri, 53, and Kody announced their split in January 2023.
“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way, and in our own timing,” they wrote on Instagram. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship. During this process, we are committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all members of our family, and we are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace, and love.”
During a November 2023 episode of Sister Wives: One of One, the Brown family reflected on Kody’s relationship with Robyn, 46, and how it affected his other marriages.
“When I met Robyn, it was, you know, like first time ever being in love. So that changed the dynamic, I think. And that’s not anybody’s fault,” Kody said.
Meri explained that she believed Kody and Robyn had a “soul connection,” and Christine agreed.
“I think him marrying her, I saw what a real marriage could be. I saw him with his soulmate. I saw, ‘Oh, I guess he does have it in him to help out. I guess he does have it in him — just not with me,’” Christine added.
A source exclusively told In Touch in November that Kody was doing what he could to make sure Robyn sticks around.
“Robyn has Kody wrapped around her finger and always has because she was – and is – the favorite wife,” the insider said. “Truth of the matter is Kody is terrified Robyn will leave him as his other wives did. … Kody goes out of his way to make Robyn feel like a princess. His polygamist dream imploded and he’s desperate to hold onto this marriage even if it costs him.”
