Sister Wives' Kody Brown Describes 'Cringey Moment' With Ex-Wife Christine's New Husband

It's a classic case of family-reunion-gone-awkward on Sister Wives.

During the Sunday, November 10 episode of the hit TLC show, Kody Brown found himself face-to-face with David Woolley, ex-wife Christine Brown's new husband, at their daughter Gwendlyn's bridal shower. It was Kody's first time meeting with Woolley, 60, who was Christine's boyfriend at the time the show was filmed.

In the episode, Christine, 52, and Woolley — who tied the knot in October 2023 — drove eight hours with her kids to attend the event, only to find out that Kody, 55, and his remaining wife, Robyn Brown, decided to show up unexpectedly.

"He told Gwendlyn he wasn't coming. Like he said, full on, he wasn't going to go or anything. But now suddenly he's coming and Robyn's coming. So it adds another level of complication," Christine shared in a confessional. Christine and Kody, who split in November 2021, share six kids: Aspyn, 28, Mykelti, 27, Paedon, 25, Gwendlyn, 22, Ysabel, 20, Truely, 13.

At the party, the introduction between Kody and Woolley had its... moments. Kody, caught off-guard by the encounter, tried to make small talk. "The first thing he said is, 'I heard you held my grandkids,'" Woolley recounted. The conversation took a more uncomfortable turn when Mykelti chimed in, saying, "Well, he did more than that. He babysat them."

Woolley noted that Kody "got really red in the face" during their exchange. Meanwhile, Kody felt that Woolley spent more time talking to Robyn, 46, than him. "What was interesting is David made more eye contact with Robyn and talked to Robyn way more than me," the TV personality revealed in his own confessional.

Despite the initial discomfort, Robyn expressed her support for Christine's new happiness. "I've spent the last how many years of my life seeing her with Kody and seeing their marriage. But, you know, I want her to be happy," she said, describing their meeting as a "new way of coexisting."

Reflecting on the whole experience, Kody admitted, "Frankly, it's just one of those cringey moments where you just grit your teeth and survive it." He hopes that Woolley is "not just a boyfriend" for Christine and that their relationship works out.

In January 2023, Christine announced she was dating again and publicly debuted her relationship with Woolley one month later. Their romance quickly moved to an engagement that April, before tying the knot six months later in October.
