Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Says He Wants to ‘Move to Europe’ to Escape Drama With His Family

Sister Wives star Kody Brown is ready for a fresh start far, far away.

“I got an itch to move so bad, just to get away from the energy of it all,” the reality star, 55, said in a confessional during the Sunday, January 5, episode of his family’s TLC series. “I got to get out of here because this isn’t going to work for me, because all the memory, all the energy of it, I just don’t know.”

Kody already has an idea of where he’d like his next adventure to be, adding, “And here’s the stupid thing. I’ve got kids in college, kids in grade school — but I want to move to Europe.”

The Brown family patriarch concluded, “I want to get away from this where I can’t see it or be bombarded by it or feel it anymore,” seemingly referring to the drama surrounding his marriage to Robyn Brown and his splits from exes Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.

Christine, 52, was the first of Kody’s wives to call it quits with the Brown Family Entertainment founder in November 2021.

“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family. At this time, we ask for your grace and kindness as we navigate through this stage within our family.”

Just over one year later, a source confirmed to In Touch that Janelle, 55, had decided to separate from the TLC personality. “Janelle is a strong independent woman and realized she can do it on her own,” the insider said in December 2022, noting that the health coach “outgrew” her ex-husband.

Finally, Kody and Meri, 53, announced their split in January 2023.

“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing,” their joint statement began. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”

The pair noted that they are “committed to kindness and respect toward each other and to all the members of our family.” Kody and Meri concluded, “We are also committed to the continued healing of any and all relationships within the family so that we can move forward with forgiveness, grace and love.”

The breakups left Robyn, 46, as Kody’s last remaining wife, which has led to struggles in their marriage, as she has had difficulty accepting that they are no longer a plural family. While Robyn hasn’t given up on polygamy and is open to expanding their family again, Kody has stated that he’s strictly monogamous now.

“Will you accept me as a monogamist?” he asked Robyn during a tense conversation in Sunday’s episode. “Is there a problem with that?”

Becoming emotional, Robyn said she was “always going to stick” by her husband, but she was having an “identity crisis” because of the shift in their marriage.

“Yes, I’ll always stick with him and I love him,” she continued. “This is not what I wanted for my life.”
