Patricia Altschul shared a loving message about her friend/butler, Michael Kelcourse, who passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday in Sarasota, Florida.
The beloved butler from Southern Charm became close with Patricia having worked for her for over two decades. Michael was instantly adored by Bravo TV fans during his time on the show.
The announcement:
Southern Charm‘s matriarch posted a photo of Michael warmly smiling as he served one of his famous martinis. She wrote, “In Loving Memory of Michael Kelcourse” in the caption.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Michael, who left us yesterday morning in Sarasota. More than just a devoted butler, he was a trusted friend, confidant, and member of our family for over 20 years.”
“Michael’s time on Southern Charm endeared him to many, as his humor and kindness quickly made him a fan favorite. Over the past two weeks, he was deeply touched by the incredible number of cards and well-wishes from fans. I’ve been told there were hundreds, and they brought him immense joy during his final days.”
“I will be devoting this week to remembering Michael. I know he meant so much to so many of you, as he did to us. He will be greatly missed.”
In case you missed it:
“I am very sad to share that Michael has had another stroke,” announced Patricia earlier this month.
Michael retired from the show after suffering from an acute spinal cord stroke in 2021 following the seventh season. He moved to Florida for rehabilitation and lived in an assisted living facility until his death.
Before Michael’s passing, Patricia said that her butler is “like a family member.” She added that Michael remained “snarky and fun,” even after he had to leave the public eye.
Rest in peace, Michael Kelcourse.
