Stephen Colbert Gives 'Jerk' Trump An Awkward Reality Check On His Latest Obsession

13 hours ago 3

Stephen Colbert said President-elect Donald Trump is busy “being a jerk to other countries” as he prepares to take office next week by repeatedly insulting U.S. allies and saying he wants Greenland from Denmark.

“Denmark, you’re gonna want to put Greenland in one of those locked cases with the toothpaste at Walgreens,” Colbert said on Monday night’s “Late Show.”

Trump last week pointed to a photo op in Greenland by one of his sons, Donald Trump Jr., as proof the people there “would love to become a state.”

“We were greeted with tremendous love and affection and respect,” the president-elect said.

“Yeah, there’s just one problem,” Colbert noted. “According to Danish media reports, all those clips of Greenlanders greeting Don Jr. with ‘tremendous love and respect’ were staged after Don Jr. rounded up homeless people from the area, promising them a meal in exchange for their participation.”
