Sting, 73, has been forced to cancel his appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards in California, as well as his STING 3.0 concerts in Arizona and California later this month
Music legend Sting has been forced to cancel a string of gigs and an awards ceremony appearance on doctor's orders due to illness.
The 73-year-old, who is known for his music career but has also let fans in on his bedroom achievements too, was due to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the Bass Magazine Awards in California this Thursday, as well as performing at three other concerts in the US this month.
But a post on his social media announced that he would be postponing his STING 3.0 shows in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, as well as a performance at Cherrytree Music Company's 20th anniversary until May and June.
The statement said: "On advisement from his doctor, due to illness, it is with sincere regret that Sting must cancel his appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday and postpone his STING 3.0 concerts in Phoenix, AZ (originally scheduled for January 24) to June 1 and Wheatland, CA (originally scheduled for January 26) to May 28 as well as his performance at the Cherrytree Music Company's 20th anniversary, now taking place May 29.
"Fans should retain their tickets for the postponed shows, as they will be honoured on the new dates. Sting sincerely apologises for any inconvenience and extends his gratitude to the fans for their understanding."
Fans took to social media to wish the star well, expressing their shock at the news given Sting's famously strict health and fitness regime, which includes regular Ashtanga yoga practice.
The musician adheres to a macrobiotic diet, which is primarily composed of vegetables and grains while avoiding toxins and processed foods containing preservatives.
The diet also focuses on low consumption of meat, dairy, and sugar, reports the Mirror.
Sting and his wife Trudie Styler relocated their family to Lake House Farm in Wiltshire in 1991, where they have been growing organic vegetables ever since. They have their own free-range chickens, a trout lake, and even bee hives for honey.
Sting first gained fame with the new wave rock band, The Police, in the late 1970s and early 80s before launching a successful solo career.
He has had three number one albums in the UK chart and three top 10 singles with tracks All For Love (with Bryan Adams and Sir Rod Stewart), When We Dance, and Rise And Fall (with Craig David).
