After three months of glitz and glamour, the Strictly Come Dancing winners were finally crowned on Saturday night - and we want to know if you were happy to see Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell lift the Glitterball.
The triumphant pair brought their best moves to the ballroom, as they competed against couples JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola, and Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, to be hailed the 20th anniversary series champions. In a bid to impress the judges and viewers at home, each partnership performed three routines during the grand final, which saw Chris and Dianne scoop an overall score of 116.
Viewers were moved as the duo performed a Showdance to You Get What You Give by New Radicals, Couple's' Choice to Instant Karma (We All Shine On) by John Lennon, and Waltz to You'll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. The judges were also touched by the display, as Motsi Mabuse gushed: "You [Chris] are a role model for each and every one of us.
"[You've shown us that] everything is possible if you fight. You didn't only show us dancing, you gave us inspiration." While Shirley moved to give Dianne a hug, as she praised her for being a "very special person".
Anton Du Beke added: "I think you'll change people's lives. You're an exceptional man and you've done an exceptional thing." Meanwhile, Craig Revel Horwood shared that coaching Chris and Dianne for the final had "stayed with him", as he confessed that he had written a poem before embracing the comedian.
It read: "With every heel lead, you discovered the day. A heart that dances, pure and free. Is worth much more than a 10 from me. And Chris, you’re a light that shines for all to see."
After being declared the 2024 winners, a speechless Chris said: "It's astonishing, I don't know what to say. I thought I would go out in the first week or two. We have lasted and lasted and she has got so much out of me, she deserves this so much."
We asked Mirror readers if they were happy that Chris had won Strictly, and a whopping 79 percent said 'Yes'. So far, 7,657 have taken part in our poll, and a hefty 5,912 shared that they were pleased with the result.
Voicing their thoughts in the comments section, one reader penned: "Chris deserved this win. Being blind and doing technical moves etc plus joining together moves requiring you to move away and come together, he did amazingly and a legacy to blind people that you can learn to dance. Well done Chris."
Another agreed: "Truly amazing! Like most people I thought he would stay in a few weeks while stealing some hearts, but to be able to dance like they did left me gobsmacked every week. Fully deserved, and not just because of the complications of being blind. It went way beyond that. Congrats!"
"Chris deserved to win. All the hard work he has had to do for one one dance has been unreal. To get where he got to in the competition is fantastic. Well done to this great dancing couple," echoed a third.
While a fourth praised: "Congratulations. I loved Chris and glad to see someone who has never danced before progress. His waltz was phenomenal. All four were amazing BTW."
However, 21 percent admitted that they were disappointed by the outcome, as one person wrote: "I thought Chris's achievement was beyond expectation and way beyond belief. The title couldn't have got to a nicer, more humble person but sadly, he wasn't the best dancer in my opinion. Sorry."
A second posted: "CHRIS was the worst dancer should have gone weeks ago, Tasha was brilliant. Every year the best dancer never wins," as a third shared: "I have no problem with Chris winning.....it was astonishing what he achieved this year.
"The final was spoilt, though, because as he was odds on favourite to win you knew there was little point in the others dancing....they were never in with a chance of winning. Bit of an anticlimax really."
Another added: "I have the upmost admiration for him he is a fantastic inspiration and a very good dancer. BUT. Sorry he wasn’t the best dancer tonight."
