Amy Dowden has delighted fans after confirming that she will be taking part in the Christmas special of Celebrity MasterChef. The Welsh professional dancer shared the exciting news on her official Instagram page with her fans.

The 34-year-old dancer - who was partnered with pop star JB Gill on Strictly Come Dancing - won't return to the dance floor this year, after suffering a foot injury.

Posting on Instagram, she penned: "Well I think this is going to be a fun watch. Coming to BBC One and iPlayer this Christmas." Many of her fellow pro dancers flooded the comments section with warm messages.

Vito Coppola said: "Oh yessss. Cannot wait to watch you." Dianne Buswell also said: "oh yeh can’t wait for this," with a clapping hands emoji.

One fan wrote: "so excited for this!!! i've never watched masterchef but will DEFINITELY tune in to watch you ames!!"

A second also chimed in: "Aww your gonna do amazing I’ll be watching!!", completed with love heart emojis.

Amy - who missed the 2023 series after being diagnosed with breast cancer - made her triumphant return to Strictly earlier this year.

However, during one live show the dancer was taken to hospital by ambulance after collapsing during filming on Saturday 26 October.

Her representative said at the time: "Amy was feeling unwell and so an ambulance was called as a precaution. She is feeling much better and would like to thank the Strictly family for their love and concern."

However, she then suffered a foot injury which forced her to pull out of the rest of the series. As she focuses on her recovery, fellow professional dancer, Lauren Oakley, has stepped in to replace her.

Meanwhile, Lauren also expressed her support for Amy.

She wrote on Instagram: "Sending you so much love and well wishes @amy_dowden.

"Hope you’re back on the dance floor as soon as possible. I will look after @jbgill for you this week. I hope we make you proud. (sic)."

Strictly Come Dancing resumes on Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
