Survivor’s Sue Pokes Fun at Comments About Her Dirty Face With Tutorial to Get Her ‘Snatched Cheeks’

1 month ago 3

Survivor season 47 contestant Sue Smey is fully leaning into the chatter about how dirty her face has been on the show. On Saturday, December 7, she even posted a “tutorial” about how to use soot or dirt to “contour” like she did in Fiji.

“I’m going to show you how to get my signature SUEnami snatched cheeks the way I did it on the island,” Sue, 59, said in the video. “I’ve had so many comments about my SUEnami soot face, I decided I’m going to make you a tutorial.”

As fellow season 47 contestant Caroline Vidmar previously explained, Sue’s look was usually from her using her hands to tend to the fire and then touching her face while they were covered in soot afterwards. For the tutorial, Sue explained that you need to “get ash from a fireplace or get dirt” in order to create her buzzed-about Survivor look.

“We didn’t have foundation out there, guys. It was all sunshine,” she explained. “So, you’re just going to have to contour where you want to contour.”

She then rubbed the soot on her eyelids, cheeks, jawline and forehead like any good influencer would normally do with makeup. “The soot doesn’t spread easily and, as we all saw, it’s hard to remove, so a little goes a long way,” Sue continued. “Check out how small of an amount I needed to get these cheekbones snatched. Then we do the finishing touches with the jawline, maybe a little on the forehead, and BAM, you’re Survivor contouring.”

To conclude the video, she added, “I hope this clears things up and you can get this snatched SUEnami look at home.”

Social media has been flooded with comments about Sue’s face during the last several episodes, but instead of getting upset about it, Sue has been having fun with fans. “I know my face is dirty. Thanks for the reminders,” she wrote on Instagram ahead of the December 4 episode. The week prior, she said, “Is my face clean enough for you in this picture ? tune in tomorrow 8pm to see how long the dirt stays off my face.”

Meanwhile, after Caroline, 28, was voted out on December 4, she insisted that she tried to tell Sue about the dirt many times while they were playing Survivor. “[I tried to tell her] every single day,” Caroline told Parade. “I tried so hard. Rachel [LaMont] did too. Other tribemates did too. And OK, I would love to clarify this as well. It’s not dirt on her face. It’s mostly soot.”

She continued, “The way she would attend to the fire is moving things around in a way where her hands were very sooty. And she would touch her face quite a bit. So we would spend a lot of time trying to scrub it off her face, but it was really caked in there. And there were times, too, where she’s like, ‘It’s OK, it’s fine. We’ll leave it.’ I think she wouldn’t have said that if maybe she knew how much was on there. But we tried!”

Survivor continues with part one of a two-part finale on CBS Wednesday, December 11, at 8 p.m. ET.
