The anticipation is palpable as Taylor Swift prepares to take the stage for her highly anticipated three-weekend concert series in New Orleans. In a remarkable show of dedication, local fan Rebecca Fox has booked an astonishing 191 hotel rooms to ensure that fellow Swifties have a place to stay during the festivities.
A Swift move
When the 34-year-old superstar announced her tour stop in the Big Easy, Fox was quick to act. Initially requesting just 20 rooms at a local Holiday Inn, her plans quickly escalated. "They were extremely apprehensive," Fox recounted, reflecting on the hotel's initial hesitation. "But I think once their marketing and sales person said, 'I don't think y'all understand what Taylor can do and will bring to our property,' they changed their minds. And it's been exciting ever since."
Drawing from her experience at one of Swift's concerts in Arizona, where hotel prices skyrocketed after bookings, Fox was determined to spare other fans the same fate. She personally paid nearly $500 per room to lock in fair rates, ensuring that Swifties have a comfortable and affordable stay. "We want to make sure that New Orleans is the best and is the most welcoming, the safest, and that they have the best time here," she emphasized.
Economic boost on the horizon
Local tourism leaders are optimistic about the economic impact of "The Eras Tour." With hotels boasting full occupancy on Friday and Saturday nights, and a solid 80 percent on Sundays, the concerts are set to be a game-changer for the city. As the countdown to concert weekend begins, fans and locals alike are brimming with excitement, eager to welcome Swift and celebrate the music that unites them all.
