Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, and his ex-wife Mashonda, are proving that blended families’ support can be crucial to a child’s success.
Over the weekend, the trio came together to celebrate their son, Kasseem Dean Jr.’s, 18th birthday and acceptance to New York University.
The award-winning producer posted a series of videos via Instagram on Sunday (Dec. 22) capturing the surprise celebration for Kasseem Jr. His mother, Mashonda, also showed a carousel of heartwarming images of their son, as Alicia Keys too, shared a montage of clips of Kasseem from over the years.
In one of the clips, Swizz, Alicia, Mashonda, and other family members, could all be seen dressed in matching NYU hoodies as they gathered in a lavish suite to surprise the new college student.
They could be seen standing near a door, eagerly awaiting his arrival—and when Kasseem Jr. entered the room, everyone yelled, “Welcome to NYU! Happy birthday!”
The emotional moment showed Kasseem Jr. being surprised as he jumped with excitement, hugging Swizz and Alicia before sharing a warm embrace with his mother. Family members applauded and cheered, celebrating both his academic achievement and his birthday in unison.
