Taylor Swift has been spotted at a total of three of Travis Kelce‘s games during the 2024 NFL Season, which pales in comparison to the 15 games Swift attended during the 2023 season when she and Kelce first started dating. While her packed schedule is likely a factor — she resumed her Eras tour in Miami last week — there’s more to her selective attendance than just timing. And now, it doesn’t mean there’s trouble between her and Kelce.

 Swift has only attended games at the Kansas City Chiefs’ home turf of Arrowhead Stadium this fall, a decision rooted in more than proximity — it’s about feeling safe. For those who don’t remember, Swift had to cancel her tour dates in Vienna over the summer due to a bomb threat, highlighting the very real dangers the singer faces in her line of work as the biggest pop star on the planet. The Vienna threat, among other safety concerns, have required Swift’s team to adopt rigorous safety measures and vet any venue she goes to beforehand.

Given this, it makes sense that Swift is sticking to venues that her security detail are familiar with. “Something people don’t really understand — and that’s by design — is how much courage Taylor has,” an insider revealed to Page Six, who says Kelce has provided Swift with “a tremendous sense of peace.”

“Just his physical presence. She feels safer with him than anyone she’s ever known; she knows he would do anything for her and physically she feels protected by him,” the insider added. This protective aura that Kelce offers is not just physical but extends to emotional safety as well. “Travis is her protector in every sense of the word. He is going to make sure she is physically safe, and emotionally safe — he is not going to do anything careless or reckless with her,” the source emphasized.

Even before the Vienna incident, Swift’s appearances have been meticulously planned. But now, insiders note that “she’s not going anywhere unless she knows the venue intimately and it has been thoroughly scouted and secured in advance.”

So while Swifties might be bummed that their icon isn’t giving as many style-based Easter eggs about her highly anticipated release of Reputation: Taylor’s Version with her game day looks, it’s easy to understand why Swift is taking extra precaution — and keeping someone who makes her feel safe close to her side, especially leading up the 2024 election as Swift continues to catch flack for endorsing Kamala Harris by more conservative outlets and fans.
