Hearts have melted online for a tiny puppy who couldn't figure out how doors work.
Prosecco the miniature dachshund lives in London with her owner, Winter, 27, and is a completely adored pet, going everywhere with her. "Prosecco comes to work with me," Winter, a social media manager for a hair salon, told Newsweek. "She loves it here!"
Winter shared a video of Prosecco as a puppy, shortly after she got her, to the dachshund's dedicated TikTok account, @proseccothesausage. Her account is filled with videos of Prosecco's adventures, from walks in a London park to taking the subway, but a recent one showing the tiny puppy thinking she was stuck in a cage, not noticing the obvious exit, has proved massively popular, with almost 900,000 views.
Shared on November 24, it shows what Winter described as: "Prosecco when she had zero brain cells," adding in the caption: "My poor tiny angel."
In the clip, Prosecco is in her crate with the door wide open, but she has gone into the only corner where the door appears to block her exit. She sticks her head and paws through the gaps, standing on her to legs, looking like an adorable puppy prisoner, and repeatedly whines and cries for her owner to let her out.
But even as Winter points at the door and encourages her, even moving the door to give her a bigger exit, she continues whining — until eventually, she recognizes the large gap and bounds happily out of the crate.
"As a puppy, Prosecco was the tiniest little baby. She would get lost in our house cause she was that small," Winter, who gave her first name only, told Newsweek, fondly recalling her being so small that they would carry her around in a shopping bag.
"Then would start crying when she couldn't find us!"
Dachshunds like Prosecco are known for their smart, friendly and spunky nature, as well as making good watchdogs thanks to their bravery and "big-dog bark," according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
TikTok users were "obsessed" with the video, with one commenter writing: "Her name is Prosecco I'm so obsessed," and another laughing: "Me creating my own drama."
"She's not the smartest, but definitely the cutest," another said, as another declared: "PROSECCO I'D DIE FOR YOU."
Since getting older, Winter says Prosecco has "definitely figured out how everything works now."
"We used this gate at my work so she can't run out to strangers, but now she just pushes it open with her nose when she knows the latch isn't on properly!"
