An excited Tesco shopper has shared a 'hidden code' that makes it easy to ensure you're making the most of the deals available. It's no secret it can get pretty expensive when doing your weekly food shop, so savvy shoppers will know that by joining loyalty schemes such as Tesco's Clubcard, you can cut costs while doing your shopping.
Now one Tesco fan has revealed "hidden" codes which mean you'll never miss out on any offers. This one is especially useful for those that see an offer and think they'll come back for it later - only to see it's no longer discounted.
Money-saving shopper and Instagram user Jordan Cox, known as the Coupon Kid, took a close look at products with Clubcard discount available at Tesco. He pointed to a small row of numbers on the label - which is actually a backwards date according to Jordan.
In a voiceover, Jordan said: "This secret code at Tesco might save you money on an item with a Clubcard price. Look for this - the last two numbers are the day, the middle two are the month, and the first two are the year of when the deal expires. If it's an item you buy regularly, you'll now know when to stock up before the price goes up."
The full caption on the video read: "Have you cracked this code at Tesco? On an item with a Clubcard Price, look for a 6 digit number staring with “24” or “25”.
"If you read the numbers in reverse - it’ll tell you the expiry date of the deal: Last two numbers: Day. Middle two: Month. First two: Year.
"If it’s an item you buy pretty regularly, you can see when it expires… so you know when you’ll need to stock up! If you can avoid paying full price, you’ll save a bit of cash on your shopping trips!"
The Instagram post proved popular, racking up over 19,000 likes and many comments from impressed Tesco shoppers. Beneath the clip, one person said: "This is an excellent tip!" and a second wrote: "Going to look for this next time I’m there." A third added: "Good tip, thank you", while another wrote: "That’s genius."
