Texas Zoo Animals Enjoy Rare Day During Winter Storm Enzo

Houston, Texas, residents were surprised that it snowed in the city, but it seemed like local zoo animals enjoyed the change in weather even more!
In a video, a baby elephant, otter and other critters were seen galloping through the snow.

Winter storm Enzo was a rare occurrence for the region — but that didn't stop the zoo animals from having a fun snow day.
The Houston Zoo shared more photos of the animals on their X, formerly known as Twitter, account.
"Walking in a winter wonderland. Our Asian elephants explored their snowy habitat," they said in their post.

X users quickly fawned over the mammals.
"Woolley mammoths for a day," one person wrote.

"Cause we could all use an elephant break," another exclaimed.

As the animals soaked up their time playing in sleet, Texans were also enthusiastic about the opportunity to experience making a snowman.
"This snow in Houston has only been enjoyable because the grid has held up so far…Better stay that way," a social media user said.
"Never in a million years did I think Houston would look like this," another added.

Houston, Texas, has a humid subtropical climate, which makes winters quite mild, but changes could be coming in the future.
"Climate change has increased the disruptions to the polar vortex," Judah Cohen, who is the author of the study and an atmospheric scientist at Atmospheric Environmental Research, told The New York Times when discussing the colder temperatures in the southern region of the United States.

"We just don't see robust increases in severe cold events," scientist Zeke Hausfather rebutted when chatting with the outlet. "If anything, they're decreasing."
