The 2 Johnnies plead with people to 'be safe online' and hit out at social media companies

3 hours ago 1

The 2 Johnnies were among the panel of guests who chatted to Patrick Kielty on Friday night's Late Late Show, a GAA Special episode.

The podcasters discussed their own experiences of the GAA, and their love of the game alongside Pat Spillane.

The nation is currently gripped by a recent episode of their podcast titled The GAA Catfish Part 3, a third instalment of a saga that the duo say has been going on for them since 2022.

They say that Johnny B was catfished, and are of the opinion that the person behind the fake accounts may have also been targeting other men over a number of years, namely men involved in the GAA and entertainment industry.

While on the show, host Patrick asked Johnny ‘B’ O’Brien and co-host Johnny ‘Smacks’ McMahon if they had anything further to say regarding their experience.

"We would say to people, be safe online because the social media companies need to do more," said Johnny B.

"They’re making billions and they don't give a sh*** about people. They need to do more."

He also took the time to praise the Gaelic Players Association’s reaction to the controversy.

"Fair play, the GPA contacted all of their members today to warn them," he said.

The latest podcast episode has now been streamed over two million times worldwide.

The duo opened the show too, with their song When I Play for the Country.

Fans took to social media to praise the pair for their performance.

Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "@the2johnnies opened the show in style. Great stuff."

"Ireland eurovision entry for 2025, the 2 johnnies, with that great tune," another wrote.

A third said: "Enjoyed the performance by @the2johnnies on #LateLateShow Gaa special great start to the show."
