When Bad Sisters was greenlit for a second season, there was one question fans and cast members were asking — could Sharon Horgan do it again?

The show’s creator, writer and star had given us a darkly satisfying ending in season one and anyone could have been fooled into thinking that, after successfully covering up the murder of their sister’s reprehensible husband, it would be a happily ever after for the Garvey sisters: Eva (Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson).

However, season two’s Nov. 13 premiere proved otherwise. Without giving too much away for those who haven’t caught up with the show, let’s just say the Bad Sisters group chat lit up when the cast first read Horgan’s season two script, as Greene and Birthistle told SheKnows.

“Sharon gets really nervous when we read stuff or when we watch stuff,” Greene told us ahead of the release of season two. “She really wants our opinion and and to check in with her. She does [say], ‘I hope you like it. I hope you’re happy with it.’ We’re like, ‘You’re a genius. We’re happy with everything you write.'”

“We’re immediately on the phone [asking], ‘Have you read [episode] one, have you read [episode] two,” Birthistle adds.

Still, though, the nerves do persist for Horgan who had a hard act to follow. At the New York premiere of season two, Horgan told us that she was especially nervous for newcomer Fiona Shaw to read the script.

“She’s such a legend and I so desperately wanted her to play this character,” Horgan said. Shaw joins the cast as Angela, the sister of season one’s hero Roger. In addition to being a holder of the Garvey sisters’ secret, she has some hidden truths of her own.

“I was nervous about her seeing it at an early stage. But I’m also somebody who really loves because then they can give feedback and it gets better,” added Horgan.

Though the pressure was on for Horgan, season two marked a coming home for the rest of the cast. Having filmed season one back in 2021, reuniting along Ireland’s east coast was a joy for the cast who spend much of their interviews gushing about each other and celebrating their female-led group.

“We’re all just very, very sisterly,” Birthistle said. “Because we have become so close over the course of the last couple of years, which is lovely.”

“We all look to each other for different advice,” Greene adds. “I would go to Eva quite a lot with advice about my kids and stuff because our kids are the closest in age. Sharon is always kind of our matriarch.”

“We just love hanging out and we talk non-stop.”
