"I went through the whole denial thing for a couple of years," the actor told People of finding out about his mother's diagnosis in 1999.

"I was like, 'Take a couple aspirin and go to sleep… You'll be fine. You'll be fine. Go get a massage and slow down.'"

"My love for my mom is real and I want her to beat this damn thing. She's my Super Woman and she needs to know that someone is out there fighting for her at all times," he said before her death.

Grappling with the loss of his only parent, Moore made the decision to launch his clothing line, Baby Girl, which donates a portion of proceeds to MS research.

The actor has become a spokesperson and advocate for the disease, raising funding and spreading awareness using his growing platform.
