The US Google Store has a new round of “Official Merch” and the “Pixel Cap” is pretty good. It follows the first batch introduced in April.
This merch “drop” — if you will — has two black t-shirts. One just has the company logo, while the other features a glow-in-the-dark Chrome Dino. Coming in at $30, they’re available in a range of adult sizes. The marketing copy remains amusing:
- “Searching for the perfect T-shirt? You could Google it. Or you could just pick up this comfortable, timeless black tee. It’s the ultimate statement piece for anyone who always has the right answers.”
- “The Chrome Dino is an internet icon and legend at Google. Excavated from the 404 pages, now your favorite pixelated prehistoric pal can side-scroll with you anytime, anywhere. Just avoid the cacti (if you know, you know).”
You then have a $15 Google Mug. It has a white exterior and yellow interior, but the specs page does not mention how big it is:
- “This mug has Google written all over it. Even though this charming ceramic vessel isn’t capable of searching the web, it’s perfect for holding your morning coffee, midday tea, or a midnight nightcap.”
- “Whether you’re a Pixel fanatic or you just love keeping the sun out of your eyes and the hair out of your face, this stylish cap is the perfect accessory for every head and any occasion.”
Finally, you have what should be the first piece of branded Pixel merchandise. Historically, Google has just made Android, YouTube, Maps, and even Cloud merch.
The black “Pixel” stitching is subtle, with the four-color ‘G’ logo on a white square background on the left breaking things up. As an easter egg, the inside has the Chrome Dino. On the very back, you have “It’s a Google thing” that I could go without. The Pixel Cap is $25.
