The Traitors is returning sooner than you think.
Its third series will kick off in a primetime slot on New Year's Day at 8pm on BBC One. A dramatic trailer has been released featuring host Claudia Winkleman, 52, telling fans: “Start the new year with a bang!”
It also shows mysterious figures in the show's trademark cloaks at its castle in the Scottish Highlands. Having such a plum slot on January 1 is likely to mean the series pulls in record ratings for the show.

Producers are promising it will be must-see TV. A BBC spokesperson said: “This nail-biting, award winning, reality series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman returns on New Years Day, as we welcome a new group of strangers to play the ultimate game of detection, backstabbing and trust, in the hope of winning up to £120,000."
“New series, and a whole new game.”
The show’s official podcast Traitors Uncloaked will also be back on BBC Two throughout the run. Comedian Ed Gamble has signed up to return as host for the spin-off, which features interviews with contestants and celebrities.
The Traitors has become a telly phenomenon since launching in 2022. Ratings for the second series earlier this year hit seven million viewers.
A celebrity spin-off is due to be filmed next year with stars including Alan Carr, 48, and Clare Balding, 53, tipped to take part.
There are also versions in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
