The Wanted's Max George says 2024 is 'a year he won't forget' after health scare and getting a pacemaker

The Wanted star Max George has reflected on the year that was after having heart surgery.

The British singer, 36, was previously hospitalised before Christmas due to heart issues and recently had a pacemaker put into his chest.

On New Year's Day, George shared a post reflecting on 2024 and said it is a year he "won't forget".

In the post, he shared a picture of his surgery scar and pictures of himself on stage and performing.

"2024... Certainly a year I won't forget! So lucky to have the life that I have," he wrote in his post.

"I can't wait for the next chapter, no matter what challenges lie ahead. I wish everyone an amazing night tonight... and that 2025 brings you good health and the best year!" he added.

Just a day ago, he shared a video saying he was going back to hospital for a check up after getting a "flicking feeling" in his chest following the surgery.

In December, just before Christmas Day, George shared a picture of his surgery scar with fans and spoke about his operation.

"Say hello to my little friend!" he wrote.

"Given the last 10 days, this is the best Christmas present I could have ever wished for."

"Pacemaker is in. Operation took around 2 and half hours. The main issue being some of my veins had collapsed where the wires were meant to go… But the hospital surgeons, doctors and nurses at the NHS have been incredible. I owe everything to them."

"Few more tests to do due to inflamed lymph nodes on my lungs, but that'll be easy work!"

He then said it was "time to rest".

When he was first hospitalised, the British singer revealed his heath scare and that he was in hospital due to a heart problem.

At the time, George said he thought he would be spending Christmas in hospital.

"Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken in to hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they've found that I have some issues with my heart," he said at the time.

He previously revealed to fans underneath pictures of himself in hospital and strapped to what appeared to be heart monitors that he was set for surgery sooner than expected, due to a 2:1 block in his heart and a low heart rate.

In his post, George admitted it was a "pretty scary time right now" amid his health battle.

He received messages of support from fans and followers after revealing his health scare.

Bandmate Siva Kaneswaran commented underneath: "Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon."
