Grey's Anatomy star Camilla Luddington and New Girl alum Max Greenfield both got caught up in a hilarious musical fail on Celebrity Jeopardy.
During the Season 3 premiere of the game show on Wednesday, January 8, Luddington and Greenfield were competing against comedian W. Kamau Bell. After Bell chose from the "2004, what a year!" category, the card read: "We got so caught up in this Usher song that it spent 12 weeks at the top of the charts."
Greenfield, who buzzed in first, replied with "What is 'Caught Up'?" and was promptly told he was incorrect by the show's host Ken Jennings.
Thinking the phrase used in the prompt was a clue, Luddington then buzzed in and tried answering with "What is 'All Caught Up'?" — also a wrong response that cost her $1,500, too.
Bell, who picked initially, didn't have a clue either and ran out of time instead of risking an answer. "Feels so awkward to be the Black guy and not know the Usher song," Bell joked as the audience laughed. "I was listening to Rage Against the Machine at the time, sorry everybody."
Unfortunately, Usher's "Caught Up" was released as a single in 2005. A year earlier, in 2004, he released his hit single "Yeah!" as a collaboration with Lil Jon and Ludacris. It was the longest-running No. 1 single of that year.
As for the results of the Celebrity Jeopardy match, Bell won with $11,009 and is advancing to the semi-finals of the game. He redeemed his musical knowledge after choosing from the "Hard New York Times Crossword Clues" column and getting the clue: "11-down, 3 letters: Group that had the first hardcore rap album to reach No. 1 on Billboard."
"Who is N.W.A.?" Bell answered. "That's more my style."
Throughout the rest of the Celebrity Jeopardy season, viewers can expect to see other famous faces like Neil deGrasse Tyson, Seth Green, Margaret Cho, Yvette Nicole Brown, and many more. The winner from the finals will get $1 million for charity.
Celebrity Jeopardy airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
