Tim Robinson and Sam Richardson Witness a Mascot’s Death in ‘I Think You Should Leave’ Reunion for Super Bowl Ad — Watch

Tim Robinson thinks you should try the Totino’s pizza rolls… or at least he does for the sake of his “I Think You Should Leave”-esque Super Bowl ad.

Robinson reunites with his frequent collaborator and “Detroiters” co-creator Sam Richardson for the eccentric short film. The duo, with Robinson clad in his “I Think You Should Leave” stripes and khakis (no Dan Flashes in sight), witness the death of the furry Totino’s mascot. It’s a bummer, but the snacks still rule.

There’s no coffin flop for the mascot, but the spot does seem like it’d be a good fit for Corncob TV. And if you don’t get all of these references, cue an episode of Netflix’s “I Think You Should Leave” ASAP; Season 3 of the show debuted in 2023. Richardson regularly appears on sketch series “I Think You Should Leave,” most famously playing a judge of a baby pageant.

In addition to the Super Bowl LIX commercial, Robinson is set to lead upcoming HBO comedy series “The Chair Company,” with Adam McKay and Zach Kanin executive producing. Robinson will write, star in, and executive produce the half-hour show. The official logline reads: “After an embarrassing incident at work, a man named William Ronald Trosper (Robinson) finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.” Andrew DeYoung, who directed Robinson in the TIFF-selected feature “Friendship,” directed and executive produced the pilot for the series.

Robinson and DeYoung’s feature film “Friendship,” which also stars Paul Rudd, has received rave reviews out of its TIFF debut and will screen at SXSW. IndieWire critic David Ehrlich wrote that the film “feels very much like a feature-length ‘I Think You Should Leave’ sketch and helps clarify that Robinson’s humor is rooted in confusion more than anything else.”

Robinson and Richardson aren’t the only stars to appear in buzzy Super Bowl LIX ads. Matthew McConaughey did a “True Detective” reunion with Woody Harrelson and continued his Uber Eats spokesman-ship with an ad featuring Greta Gerwig. The “Barbie” director played herself in her first acting gig since “White Noise” (2022); Charli XCX, Martha Stewart, Kevin Bacon, and Sean Evans also appear in the short film.
