According to the experiences of nearly 30,000 Brits, the Lexus MX is the most reliable new car (Image: Getty)
A motoring expert has recommended drivers considering buying a new model to choose from 10 of the most reliable around, according to owners.
Whilst almost all new cars are more reliable than their older counterparts, rising motoring bills mean it is more important than ever to choose a model that will not leave drivers stranded at the every opportunity.
According to a study by the motoring publication What Car? and warranty and maintenance cover provider MotorEasy, who assessed the views of nearly 30,000 UK drivers, the Lexus NX is the most reliable model on the market.
A premium mid-sized SUV gained a score of 100 %, with no owners reporting any issues whatsoever with the model during the last 24 months.
Despite its hefty starting price of just under £50,000, owners of the Lexus NX praise the model's good performance and handling abilities for an SUV, whilst the plug-in hybrid powertrain is surprisingly economical - with 314mpg possible if drivers take advantage of the fully-electric mode wherever possible.

However, drivers do not need to spend a fortune for a particularly reliable new model, with the study also finding that the Toyota Aygo X also scoring full marks from owners.
Much like the Lexus, no Aygo X owner taking part in the survey reported any issues with their vehicle over the past two years, despite its affordable price of £15,164.
Unusually for a small car, Toyota customers can also buy an extended warranty of up to 10 years or 100,000 miles, meaning that any faults which happen later down the line can be put right free of charge.
