Country superstar Trace Adkins’ decade-long divorce battle with his ex-wife Rhonda has finally come to an end, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Trace, 62, was awarded $179,402.25 in attorney fees at a hearing earlier this year, which was in addition to the nearly $1 million he was previously awarded in fees.
The court noted that Rhonda failed to respond to Trace’s request for fees. The May 2024 decision brings an end to the contentious court drama.
Trace’s powerhouse lawyer, Larry Hayes, tells In Touch, “I can confirm that we were successful in defeating all attempts made by Rhonda to get out of the divorce settlement, and after ten years of contentious litigation in the trial court and several trips to the Appellate Courts, Rhonda has no more avenues available to her so the Adkins divorce is concluded once and for all.”
Back in March 2014, the couple split after 17 years of marriage.
In Rhonda’s paperwork, she cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The couple wed in 1997 and split in 2014. They share three daughters.
Rhonda demanded child support and alimony. In June 2015, Trace’s lawyer revealed that the case was settled after a private mediation session.
The settlement covered all issues related to property and custody of their kids.
Court documents obtained by In Touch reveal that Rhonda tried to have the mediation agreement thrown out months later. The parties went to trial in April 2016.
In January 2017, the court “entered a very detailed and voluminous” order that ruled the mediation agreement was valid and the parties were officially single. The court noted that Ronda “decided she simply did not like the court’s ruling.”
“For several months, wife filed dozens and dozens of pleadings in an endless attempt to set aside the court’s findings of fact and conclusions of law based upon a litany of reasons why this court’s findings of fact and conclusions should be disregarded.”
Rhonda filed motions to vacate the order entered by the court and to have the judge disqualified.
The judge claimed Rhonda’s accusations in her motion demanding he be kicked off the case were “not only disjointed and confusing, but had no factual basis in any way whatsoever for this court to recuse itself …” Rhonda appealed the decision to the Tennessee Supreme Court in June 2017, but her petition was shut down.
The court said Rhonda then “took the additional action in her continuous pursuit of the same issues over and over again, all in another attempt to once again delay the proceedings in the case.” In 2018, Trace was awarded $533,000 in legal fees.
Rhonda tried to have the amount reduced but was denied her request. In 2022, the exes were back in court fighting over money.
Trace demanded additional attorney fees from Rhonda. He was awarded $399,681.73 in attorney fees.
The court also noted at the time that “based upon numerous facts cited straight from the record, that [Rhonda] cannot be believed under oath. [Rhonda] gives inconsistent testimony in the fact of being shown her testimony one day and her prior sworn testimony another, and many examples, that she is not a person that can be relied upon to tell the truth.” At the time, Trace was awarded $446,918.39, which was his request legal fees and additional monies.
In May 2024, Trace was awarded an additional $179,402.25 in attorney fees.
The grand total of fees awarded to Trace since 2018 totaled $1,159,320.
Trace is currently with actress Victoria Pratt. The two met in 2013 on a film set. They got married in October 2019.
