TRAI has finally kicked off its Message Traceability today in India. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India introduced a new rule which will help in reducing spam messages. The rule was earlier expected to take place on 1 December but in order to give service providers more time, the authority pushed back the date to give them extra time. The deadline set by TRAI for implementing the message traceability rule was October 31, 2024, which was extended by one month to November 30, 2024, on the demand of telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea.
After new traceability rule implementation all the spam messages and calls will be blocked and users will have a straightforward way to identify these calls and messages. The rising data of Spam messages and calls in India is a growing concern following the cases of fraud. More than 27,000 organizations have signed up for traceability registration.
TRAI is trying to locate people behind SPAM calls and messages and will the system will track them by weakening the communication between these individual channels. After the implementation of TRAI’s new traceability rule, the OTP messages coming to mobile users can be easily tracked.

According to TRAI, this can be of great help in stopping cyber fraud.
The new rule will now detect spammers and will block fraudulent messages and calls to reach users. With this system the SPAM calls will be blocked.
