Travis frontman Fran Healy has been rushed to hospital after suffering a horrific injury while on tour with the Scottish band across the US.

Fran, 51, was helped into an ambulance after the band’s show at the Showbox in Seattle, Washington, on Monday night after sustaining the injury. The iconic Scottish band are currently on their Raze The Bar North American Tour, which kicked off in January.

After he was whisked away in the ambulance, the Flowers In The Window singer took to the band’s social media pages to update fans. Fran confirmed that he was wheeled out of the venue after twisting his ankle at the end of the show.

The Scottish singer was riddled with worry that he had broken his ankle after the pain shot up through his body, but luckily, it was just a 'gnarly sprain' in the end as he updated his loyal fans on social media. Fran is now forced to wear a walking boot for the foreseeable to help his ankle heal, and the singer has insisted that "the show must go on" despite his painful injury.

Ahead of taking the stage in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night - just one day after his accident - Fran took to Instagram to share an update with fans as he filmed himself laying down in his hotel bed in an attempt to rest his ankle.

The singer said: "If anyone saw me being wheeled out of the venue last night on a gurney and being put into an ambulance it's because I seriously twisted my ankle stepping off stage, as I was waving goodbye to everyone, it sort of twisted around back to front.

"We thought it was broken, went to hospital, thankfully it's just a really gnarly sprain. I've got one of these massive big space shoes now so when you turn up to Salt Lake City you can all laugh at that. The show must go on, we'll see you there, we'll see you on the rest of the tour.

"I'm fine, I'm slightly dizzy just now because I'm on some painkillers but apart from that it's all good. Oh and I'm watching Antiques Roadshow, bye," he joked before signing off.

Travis were formed in Glasgow in 1990, and the band is composed of Fran, Dougie Payne, Andy Dunlop, and Neil Primrose.

The band's name comes from the character Travis Henderson (played by Harry Dean Stanton) from the film Paris, Texas.
