Queer Eye is back this December which is cause for celebration, for sure. But some people might be wondering why the Fab Five have switched up a tad this season. Jeremiah Brent joins the experts, bringing his interior design skills to the table. He replaces Bobby Berk, who a lot of us are missing this year.
Tan France and Bobby Berk made up two of Queer Eye’s previous Fab Five. Their infectious personalities and unique talents shone through for many seasons as they helped transform heroes’ lives. Tan is still serving as a suave fashion guru, and Bobby was the go-to guy for all things home. Tan, Bobby, and the rest of the cast had fabulous on-screen chemistry – so it seemed. But, rumors began circulating about a falling-out between the two stars. Then, news of Bobby’s departure came about.
Tan and Bobby’s ‘fall out’
The buzz around Tan and Bobby’s supposed feud first started after a few cryptic comments and social media unfollowings. Rumors of “clashes of personality” between the Fab Five members haven’t been uncommon. People started speculating that there was tension between Tan and Bobby, particularly after Bobby unfollowed Tan on Instagram.
However, before the rumor mill could spin too far, both stars were quick to clarify that there was no real “falling-out.” In fact, it could’ve been more of a natural creative difference that a lot of long-time collaborators probably experience. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Bobby compared their relationship to that of family members, and also admitted they did have a “fall out” of sorts.
He said: “Should I have unfollowed Tan? No. Maybe I should have just muted him. But that day, I was angry, and that’s the end of it. We became like siblings — and siblings are always going to fight.”

They’re in a better place now
The drama was really amped up around Bobby’s departure, and his short feud with Tan. But, he told VF it was his decision to leave the show.
He and Tan are also on better terms these days.
As it turns out, the two actually have a pretty solid friendship. In interviews since, both Tan and Bobby have stressed the importance of mutual respect and love, and they continue to support each other’s projects outside of the show.
Tan’s book Naturally Tan was promoted by Bobby, and Bobby has often shown love for Tan’s work on social media. Back in January, Bobby said they’d be “fine,” so he pre-empted a making-up between the two.
He also spoke fondly of the moment he knew he had a “connection” with his former co-stars:
“Tan, Karamo, and I, we sat right next to each other on the very first day of casting and instantly had a connection… And then with Antoni, and then the next day with Jonathan. I started a Fab Five text group between the five of us before we even could have imagined we were cast, and I feel like that’s why we got the show. Casting saw that we really, truly love each other, and we all truly had great chemistry. From the very beginning, we had a real connection.”
So, the two didn’t have a true ‘feud’, as such, and Bobby didn’t leave the show on terrible terms.
One thing’s clear: Tan and Bobby’s relationship isn’t the same as it was. They’re still not following one another on IG at the time of writing.
But, there doesn’t appear to have been real bad blood between them, and any tension just adds the Queer Eye magic that makes them so relatable and real.
