Vogue Williams has spoken about fearing becoming dependent on sleeping tablets after indulging in a drink over the Christmas period.

The model and TV personality, 39, shared on her podcast with her sister, after husband Spencer Matthews revealed he was stepping down, that she takes over-the-counter sleeping pills to help her sleep after having a drink.

However, she warned her listeners to be ‘really careful’, admitting she was ‘really into them’.

She candidly explained: ‘I have to say over Christmas, whenever I have a drink or anything like that, I will take a little over-the-counter sleeping tablet so I can sleep longer, and if I don’t do that I will only sleep for four hours.

‘And I’ll tell you want, you need to be really careful of those things because I got really into them.’

Vogue continued on the Vogue & Amber podcast: ‘It is only this week that I am like, “I am free of needing to take the sleeping tablets to fall asleep,” because you get it into your mind even when it is just over-the-counter.’

The mum-of-three has previously spoken about her relationship with alcohol, having decided to drink less in 2020 after ‘feeling anxious and sleeping badly for days after a night out’.

‘It’s just not worth it to me anymore. I want everyday to be hangover free so I can be happier and get more done!’ she said.

Former Made In Chelsea star Spencer, 36, has also addressed his sobriety and been open about issues he faced in the past with alcohol.

He recently confessed he ‘could have died’ at the height of his drinking, when he would consume up to 10 pints of beer a day while working in the city as a trader.

In 2018, he decided to quit alcohol, saying on Vogue’s Taboo Talk podcast: ‘I had a bottle of whiskey, ‘I was hammered drunk. I remember waking up the next day and I thought, “I don’t need this in my life.”‘

He also admitted he ‘could have lost’ Vogue had he not turned his life around. He now says he can drink in moderation, and has created a non-alcoholic spirits brand, CleanCo.
