Waffles Recalled Nationwide: Full List of Impacted Stores

TreeHouse Foods, a leading private brands snacking and beverage manufacturer, has recalled all of its products produced at one of its facilities due to listeria fears. Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified it as a Class II recall.

The company is voluntarily expanding its previously announced recall to include products manufactured on all lines at its manufacturing facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

A sweeping list of products, including frozen toaster waffles, Belgian waffles, and pancakes, have been recalled due to the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, as reported on the company website.

Stores affected include, but are not limited to: Albertson's, Aldi, Dollar General, Foodhold, HEB, Kroger, Publix, Target, and Walmart.

This issue was discovered through routine testing. The company states that the voluntary recall announced on October 18, 2024, and expanded on October 22, 2024, is limited to the listed products and lot codes originating from the Brantford manufacturing site and does not affect other products and categories made in its remaining sites.

The FDA has categorized the recall as Class II, indicating a situation where "exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, but the likelihood of serious harm is remote."

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious infection primarily affecting pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the infection can spread to the nervous system, causing meningitis or encephalitis. Anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.

While TreeHouse Foods states there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injuries linked to the recalled products to date, the company is taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its consumers.

Newsweek contacted TreeHouse Foods via email on Thursday outside of working hours for comment.

"TreeHouse Foods is expanding its voluntary recall of certain frozen waffle products due to additional testing indicating the potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination on products manufactured on the additional manufacturing lines," said TreeHouse Foods in a statement on the company website.

"This testing was underway even as we announced the initial recall, though we didn't yet have results.

"We take consumer food safety seriously and even as testing continued, we could not withhold important consumer safety information and therefore initiated the recall based on the information we had confirmed at the time."

The recall encompasses a wide range of snacks and baked goods produced under the TreeHouse Foods label and its private-label agreements with major retailers.

Consumers who have purchased TreeHouse Foods products are advised to check the company's website or FDA's recall database for a detailed list of affected items.

The company urges customers to dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The FDA's website states that the following products, which are sold through most retail stores, including but not limited to Albertson's, Aldi, Dollar General, Foodhold, HEB, Kroger, Publix, Target, and Walmart, are included in this recall with Best By or Best if Used by Dates as indicated in the below table. All Lot Codes in the scope of this recall will begin with 2C.

The recalled products were distributed throughout the United States and Canada and packed in various formats under the brand names listed below.
