As one of the Spice Girls turned designer, Victoria Beckham became known for her signature steely gaze, rarely ever smiling.
But it turns out there was a good reason for her icy demeanour, she has revealed in an interview with The Telegraph.
Surprisingly, the fashion and beauty mogul says she used to have low self-confidence about the way she looked.

She had trouble with her skin when she was younger, and had to drastically alter her diet to fix it, she says.
"It was because of my skin that I became very careful about what I ate," she said, sharing she stopped eating meat and wheat and using cassava flour, which is made from a root vegetable.
"And yeah, probably I did look stern in a lot of pictures, but I was so uncomfortable."

That has changed she says, adding she now also ignores comments online.
"Was there a time when I used to scroll through all the comments about me? Probably. But now I just don't have the time," she said.
The 50-year-old also shares her marvel at the fact that she is now able to walk a red carpet event with next-to-no makeup.
"If you'd told me a few years ago I'd step on to a red carpet to pick up an award wearing only a bit of concealer and no foundation, I'd have thought you were mad, but that's what I did last week," she said.

The business owner recently received an Entrepreneur of the Year award, presented to her by her daughter, Harper Seven, who spoke about her famous mother.
"The winner is someone I have always looked up to. She's built an incredible business from the ground up and has showed me the value of working hard, dreaming big and setting my standards," the 13-year-old said.
Victoria said she has also learned a lot from her daughter.
"She's taught me so much about what it takes to succeed. But above all else she's taught me to always be kind and even though she has a million things to do, she rarely misses school," she said.
