Wayne Rooney's romantic gesture as wife Coleen returns from I'm A Celeb stint just in time for Christmas

Coleen Rooney certainly made her mark on the British public during her time on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

Her rawness and bravery by tackling creepy crawlies and coming head to head with snakes has left her husband football legend Wayne Rooney bursting with pride.

A source said: "Wayne has loved watching Coleen and it has made him remember just how amazing she is and how much he appreciates her. It has made their marriage even stronger, as it's been a wake-up call for Wayne. He realised how much she actually does for the whole family, and how much he misses her when she's not around,"

The couple are childhood sweethearts and have been married for 16 years, sharing four son together: Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass, reports the Mirror.

Wayne could not be prouder of his wife's bravery

Their two youngest boys flew to Australia with Coleen's parents to support their mum, who came second place to winner Danny Jones.

Now that Coleen has returned home from the jungle, it seems the Plymouth Argyle manager plans to increase the romance between the pair. Wayne proposes the couple spend more quality time together over the festive period and into the new year.

A sources speaking to OK! said: "Wayne knows he has someone very special and watching Coleen taking on trials has shown him how strong she really is. He's going to make more of an effort for some quality time and wants to take her on date nights. Wayne wants to have more time with her and the kids and be more hands-on when he's home."

As they go on to claim that Wayne is nothing but supportive of what his Coleen sets herself to do next. "He is keen on supporting Coleen in what could be a really huge career in TV. He wants to give her the chance to shine and support her, like she has supported him for so long. It's going to be a really strong year for them as a couple".

Coleen lasted the whole three week run in the jungle, and was greeted by her parents, Colette and Tony, along side her two boys Kit and Cass upon her exit. Although as soon as the camera cut she was straight on the phone to Wayne - who admitted her jungle stint was the longest the pair had ever gone without talking.

"As soon as I came out, I phoned home. Wayne just said how proud he was," said an Coleen, who received a heartwarming letter from Wayne and their sons whilst inside the jungle. She continued, "In the letter I got, he said he's never missed me as much - and I can understand that, because we've not spoke."

Although the couple has spent time apart before, it was not short of FaceTime calls and daily text messages, as Coleen admitted: "To not have that communication, it's been tough".

During her time in the jungle Coleen opened up to her campmates, revealing that Wayne pursued her relentlessly in school. "It was [love at first sight] for him, not for me. He fought to get me," she shared. "I waited until I'd done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school."

Now the pair live in a massive Cheshire mansion, estimated to be worth £20million, and despite facing their share of challenges, including allegations of Wayne's infidelity, the couple have come out stronger.

The source revealed that Coleen's recent TV appearance has made Wayne appreciate their relationship even more. "This has made him see how, at times, he's been foolish.

He just absolutely cherishes Coleen more than ever now. He's seen the country fall in love with her too, , and is so happy. They're in a better place than ever."

Wayne is currently the manager of Plymouth Argyle Football Club. However, an insider close to Wayne revealed that he's contemplating how his career impacts his family dynamic, the source stated: "He's having a real think about whether he should stay at Plymouth and is going to analyse what is best for the family. He wants to make the effort and having time to be hands on with the kids and Coleen."
