A few weeks ago, Molly-Mae Hague caused quite the stir on Instagram when she shared a snap of herself toting a gigantic Bottega Veneta carrier bag around, with fans speculating about what she might have bought that needed quite such a large shopping bag. Not long after, Molly-Mae revealed its contents – a brand new burgundy Andiamo Leather Top-Handle Bag , which retails for £6090.
However, the £6k bag is well over budget for most of us, which is why we were thrilled when found a great alternative at a fraction of the price. The River Island Woven Slouch Tote Bag was originally £46 – already a massive discount compared to Molly-Mae’s designer bag – but it’s now on sale for £30, saving you even more money.

Fans were quick to praise Molly-Mae’s new purchase on Instagram , with one saying: “Love your new bag” whilst another added: “Where’s the bag from?! I’ve been looking for a LARGE bag for my day to day stuff lol gots lots of things as all us girls carry.”
However we think they’ll be just as happy with the River Island alternative, which has the same oversized style and woven design, although it is made from faux leather rather than real. It has a simple shoulder strap and popper fastening that makes it practical and easy to carry.

River Island)It also has almost exactly the same roomy measurements as Molly-Mae’s Bottega bag, measuring 37cm high, 37.5cm wide and 11cm deep. This gives you plenty of room for all your essentials, as well as making it handy as an office bag or a carry-on bag for travelling.
Although it doesn’t have the same gold chain detail across the front, it does have some subtle gold hardware details, such as a gold ring detail in the strap, which help give it a more elevated, expensive look. Currently you can’t get it in the same burgundy shade as Molly-Mae’s Bottega bag, but you can choose from either black or white colourways, both of which are timeless additions to your wardrobe.
If you prefer a slightly warmer colour, head over to ASOS where you can get the Public Desire Slouchy Shoulder Tote Bag in a rich brown colour for £23. If you’re desperate to get your hands on a burgundy bag though (it is the colour of the season, after all), we found this Burgundy Leather-Look Weave Shoulder Bag for £32.99 at New Look.
Although it doesn't have the same boxy, oversize design as Molly-Mae’s Andiamo Bottega bag, it does bear a striking resemblance to another of her bags from the designer, which has a more slouchy, rounded design with a knotted shoulder. It’s also perfect for a slightly bigger evening bag, if you often find a clutch just won’t hold as many things as you need.
