Just two weeks before her death, Jennifer Sheffield complimented her soon-to-be ex-husband, Brandon Sheffield, and how he was handling their divorce. They were both later found dead from gunshot wounds at their home in Mississippi from an alleged murder-suicide.
What Happened to Jennifer Sheffield?
In the morning hours of December 28, 2024, authorities responded to a welfare check at Brandon and Jennifer’s home in Brandon, Mississippi, according to WLBT3 in Jackson, Mississippi. The police were there to check on Jennifer after family members reported “obvious signs of foul play inside of the residence.” Inside, they discovered both Jennifer and Brandon were dead from what appeared to be a murder-suicide.
It appeared “that Brandon Sheffield shot Jennifer Sheffield and then shot himself,” local police chief Joseph French told Dark Horse Press and said that it was an ongoing investigation.
Jennifer Sheffield Praised Brandon Sheffield Before Her Murder
When Jennifer shared a TikTok video on December 10, 2024, she had nothing but great things to say about Brandon despite their recent decision to end their marriage.
“I’m about to be a newly single mom and I am in the middle of a divorce,” Jennifer said in the clip. “My husband is being incredible though, like really and truly, we’re working together. Everything’s great and we’re splitting everything down the middle. Everything is good. It is a very civil divorce with our daughter in mind, and I really appreciate that.”
Jennifer continued, “However, you know, I’m going to be on my own, single income right now. And he’ll be helping with her, supporting her and I’m really thankful for that and that I’ll not have to worry so much about supporting her. However, I will be on a very limited income with buying a new house and paying a mortgage and all that stuff.”
At the end of the video, Jennifer concluded, “I’ve never done this before, I’ve never been on my own before. So, if you have any tips, saving money, making money, because I’m a little scared right now.”
Jennifer’s friend Faye Lott spoke with WLBT3 and confirmed that Jennifer and Brandon were in the process of getting a divorce, but she was shocked to learn of the allegations against him.
“[Brandon’s] never been a violent person that I was ever aware of,” Faye told the outlet. “I was with her when they met and I’ve always loved him for how he loved her. So it’s definitely hard trying to understand something we will never be able to.”
A GoFundMe Has Been Started for the Sheffield’s Daughters
Brandon’s older brother, Brian Sheffield, started a GoFundMe as a way to help Jennifer and Brandon’s two daughters, Kylie and Gracie, with the tragedy of losing both parents.
“On December 27, 2024 my precious nieces lost their beautiful mother Jennifer and their father, my little brother Brandon. So many have been praying for our family and have reached out wanting to help and our only goal is to support the girls. There’s no handbook on how to navigate such a tragedy and we’re doing our best to figure it out but we do know Kylie and Gracie will need financial support,” Brian wrote.
He added, “All funds raised will help provide for their immediate needs and will also ensure they have the support needed to heal moving forward. Any contribution, big or small, is deeply appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kindness. Please continue to pray for peace and comfort for the girls specifically but our family as well.”
