WhatsApp improves calling experience with new video call effects and more

2 weeks ago 4

For the holidays, WhatsApp is improving the audio and video calling experience on both desktop and mobile devices. Users are able to select which members to include in group chats, and the platform includes ten video call features, such as karaoke and puppy ears. To enhance the overall calling experience, it also adds extra calling tools to the desktop Calls tab.

Ahead of the holidays, WhatsApp is making it simpler to communicate with loved ones by launching new calling features for desktop and mobile devices.

Group conversations now allow users to select specific participants for calls, allowing for more personalised planning of surprise parties or gifts without bothering others. WhatsApp users can also select from ten effects to improve video calls with amusing features such as puppy ears, underwater immersion, and a karaoke microphone.

The WhatsApp desktop users now have a call tab where users can initiate calls, create call links, and directly dial numbers.

Calls now provide higher-definition video and sharper visuals for both 1:1 and group calls, making them more reliable and pleasant for desktop and mobile users.

Previously launched WhatsApp features

Recently WhatsApp also rolled out a redesigned typing indicator feature for individual and group chats. The user’s profile image and a new three-dot typing animation at the bottom of the chat screen are provided by the new functionality, which is especially helpful in group chats where several people are typing at once.

The typing indicator that was previously located at the top of the screen beneath the group name has been changed to take the form of a chat bubble in the conversation screen. By making it possible to quickly identify typing without interfering with the conversation, this function improves the user experience.

The redesigned indicator also appears in individual chats, ensuring a consistent experience.

Last month WhatsApp also introduced voice message transcripts. This means now voice messages can now be transcribed into text to help you keep up with conversations.
