Melvin Has Been Working at NBC For Nearly 14 Years
Melvin has been a member of the NBC family and its affiliate stations for quite some time. In 2011, the journalist joined as a daytime anchor for MSNBC and contributed to NBC News as a reporter.

After years working in media, Melvin is valued at a reported $14 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. However, his bank account will no doubt grow with his morning show promotion.
Melvin Is Married to Fellow Anchor Lindsay Czarniak
Melvin wed sportscaster Lindsay Czarniak in 2011 after the pair first met while working for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., in 2008.
"We make it work and it's been very, very helpful to have someone who understands crazy hours," Czarniak told People in a 2022 interview.
Melvin and Czarniak Share Two Children Together
Melvin and Czarniak share their son, Delano, and their daughter, Sybil. "The lasting image, for me, will be the confetti raining down and just watching my son be so happy and also my daughter just getting into it, because they're only at that age once, and so to have this kind of experience with them, it's just awesome," the proud dad told People in 2023.
Melvin's Older Brother Passed Away from Colon Cancer
In 2020, Melvin sadly lost his older brother, Rev. Lawrence Meadows, to colon cancer at age 43.
"He spent a fair amount of time over the past few years raising awareness about the disease. We'll be keeping up that fight. We love you, bro," the television personality wrote in a heartbreaking Instagram post following his sibling's death.
Melvin Hosted His Own True Crime Series
In 2017, Melvin became the host of his own true crime series, Dateline: Secrets Uncovered. The series followed first-hand accounts of some of the biggest mysteries in the United States.
Melvin Is an Emmy Winner
In 2006, Melvin won an Emmy for being the best anchor in Southeast South Carolina. He also shared wins with WIS-TV in 2003 and 2005 for their outstanding newscasts.
Melvin Is Hoda Kotb's Biggest Fan
After it was announced Melvin would be taking over Kotb's role once she left, he only had glowing things to say about his colleague.
"It means a lot to inherit this from you. You helped save the show and to be able to sit next to someone who I knew was smart for years and all of a sudden you start working with her and you're like, 'Wait a minute, she's funny too!'" the father-of-two told her during a live Today broadcast.
Melvin Is Extremely Close with His Coworkers
As Melvin gets used to his new job, his fellow staffers will be there to support him every step of the way.
"I want people to know, I didn't have sisters, but you guys are the sisters that I never knew that I needed," he said during a November 2024 broadcast.
